IN A NUTSHELL Dexter Fox is a young man with a gift. He can hear what people are thinking. But he keeps this to himself because he is afraid that if anyone found out about it, they would us him for some evil purpose. So he decides that he will only use his gift to help people. But first he has to be in a secure financial position. So at age 18 and with the money his parents, who both work in Atlantic City, had saved up for part of his college education, Dexter heads up to Canada to play some poker and build up enough of a financial buffer to allow him to concentrate full time on helping people. On his way back to the US with several million in winnings, he picks up a young hitchhiker, Roxanne Doyle who is heading to New York to find work in the computer industry there.
